Mushrooms in the News: 6-12-19

Hope everyone had a great fourth! This week, we are seeing strong trade coverage as a result of two major announcements: ‘Blended Burgers Now on Menus in All 50 States’ and ‘Mushroom Council and Bon Appétit Award $25,000 for a Blended Burger.’

The Kitchn posted a story titled, ‘Mushrooms: The Best Ways to Pick Them, Cook Them and Eat Them’ noting “Mushrooms are the little luxuries of the vegetable world…”

BBP broadcast coverage continues to appear in major markets including Los Angeles, Atlanta, LA, Portland, Cleveland, Minneapolis and San Diego.





After nearly 400 original blended burgers entered into the first-ever Blended Burger Project: Home Edition, Mushroom Council and Bon Appétit have awarded one home cook $25,000 for their winning blended burger recipe:

Pork and Shiitake Larb Burgers by Rachel Johnson of Austin, TX

“This burger is inspired by a traditional Thai meat ‘salad’, lending its bold flavor to a sweet and spicy sauce, savory peanuts, and a generous helping of fresh herbs. The addition of shiitake mushrooms offsets the richness of ground pork in the patty and a bright and crunchy salad ties the whole burger together for a mix of crunchy, salty, savory, and sweet.”
