Mushrooms in the News: 07-07-2022

Real Simple this week offers a major story on mushrooms. “3 Benefits of Eating Mushrooms”, spotlights an array of topics including nutrition, sustainability, varieties, simple recipes, prep, clearing and storage. “If you feel like you’re seeing mushrooms everywhere these days, you’re not wrong. Mushrooms are certainly having a moment! Packed with flavor, nutrients, and completely vegan and good for the planet and human body, mushrooms are a true superfood.”

As part of her 4th of July recipe round-up, culinary influencer Gaby Dalkin, a past collaborator with Mushroom Council, shared her 50/50 blended burger recipe on her What’s Gaby Cooking new site, while also sharing out to her nearly 900,000 Instagram followers.

Mushrooms were also the main point of discussion for many additional outlets this week: From recipes in Food Network Magazine and Experience Life, to a gallery of ‘Meaty’ Mushroom Sandwiches on One Green Planet. Mind Body Green included mushrooms on their list of foods that contain Biotin, while Well + Good included mushrooms in their protein-packed frittata muffins.

Dallas Morning News ran a syndicated article recommending blending protein with mushrooms as a means to manage rising costs during summer grilling.

Yahoo spotlighted the Tik Tok trend of frying mushrooms with their text and video feature, “Can you make ‘fried chicken’ with mushrooms?”
