Mushrooms in the News: 06-27-2022

With summer officially here, mushrooms were on the minds of many publications that shared their favorite summer mushroom recipes. Wall Street Journal shared a feature on cookbook author Nicole A. Taylor, which included her Memphis Dry-Rub Mushrooms recipe and Love & Lemons shared two warm-weather recipes for Grilled Mushrooms and Mushroom Tacos.

Mushrooms were also spotlighted on news networks across the country. KATU-TV in Portland, OR partnered with Mary Cressler and Sean Martin, co-authors of “Fire and Wine”, to debut a Wine-Marinated Beef Skewers with crimini mushroom recipe. WISH-TV from Indianapolis included mushrooms in their “Father’s Day BBQ” slate of recipes, and KSAT-TV in San Antonio shared a few reasons why mushrooms are beneficial for nutrition, their versatility, and their taste.

Cleveland Independents – an association of area chefs – recently hosted a Blended Burger Competition kick-off reception to encourage members to enter into the Food Network/Mushroom Council competition. This has resulted in three local stories to date:  a TV segment and radio interview with Chef Corby Kobrinski from Astor Cafe, and a second radio interview with the Mushroom Council.

Finally, the Verve Times, a relatively new online news site, wrote a feature touting the benefits of ergothioneine and declared it as mushroom’s “stealth ingredient.”
