Mushrooms in the News: 04-26-2021 shared an article on all things mushrooms this week, including a guide on how to clean/prep and cook mushrooms. Blended burgers were mentioned as a way to incorporate mushrooms into burger recipes, noting that “you can make a blended burger with a half beef, half mushroom mixed patty,” with link to James Beard Foundation Blended Burger Project winner Logan Guleff’s Mushroom Monster Burger.

A recent article from Flavor & The Menu provided encouragement and inspiration for chefs to include mushrooms on their restaurant menus. The article explains that “Mushrooms have been finding their way into more menu applications for a while now. As evidence, simply look to the proliferation of the blended burger on menus nationwide. But with today’s spotlight on immunity, mushrooms’ nutritive properties have come into deeper focus, and both retail and foodservice are leveraging their proven benefits in wildly creative ways.”

Mondelēz International’s Snacks & Dessert Solutions website included mushrooms as a taste trend for summer, explaining that mushrooms are a great way to “tap into plant-based and comfort food trends in new ways […].”
