Mushrooms in the News: 11-10-17

This week’s media highlight is a full page article by Restaurant Business, “Betting on the Blend,” a case study about how a Blended Burger Project participant, Burgh’ers, successfully implemented the blend – maximizing profit margins and publicity along the way. Additionally, a BBP Campus participant, NC State, released a video that features a blended burger as the chef’s “favorite dish” (see 1:12 mark).

On the mushroom research front, this week high profile media outlets such as Newsweek are spotlighting new research revealing “that mushrooms are ‘without a doubt’ the highest known single source of the antioxidants ergothioneine and glutathione, which are both associated with anti-aging properties.” Additionally, the mushroom satiety study originally published in Appetite continues to gain traction in leading outlets such as Reader’s Digest.
