The Mushroom Council sees the pursuit of diversity in board membership as an opportunity for embracing new ideas and growth that will enable the Council to better serve the industry. Central to this effort is having leadership to serve on the Council that reflects a diversity of perspectives and opinions. The industry population is diverse, and the Council should reflect, without discrimination, that diversity in the size of operations, experience of members, methods of production and distribution, marketing strategies, and other distinguishing factors that will bring different types of individuals, perspectives and ideas to the table.

Council Meeting: The next Council meeting will be held on June 7-8 in Boston. If you would like to attend, please let us know so we can make sure you are accommodated.

Highlights from April

  • SONIC released its Signature Slinger, the first blended burger to be offered at fast food restaurants nationwide. Be sure to stop by SONIC before the end of April, and share the Burger Hack from BuzzFeed (more than 3M views) on your social channels.

Check out our favorite blog posts from Eating RichlyI Don’t Have Time for That!, and Sizzling Eats. Share these posts with your social media followers, and add your own voice to the conversation by filming a short video sharing why you’re a blenditarian, and post to social with #blenditarian.
  • We updated the Blend Marketing Toolkit with new key messaging, social content, recipes and images. This toolkit is a great resource for approved information on The Blend. Check it out and share with your network.

  • The Council attended three of the major NACUFS regional shows where colleges and universities attend to see new products, meet about The Blend and other mushroom opportunities and learn new ideas. The fourth, and last will be in early April, and along with the Council, several Blended burger suppliers have been exhibiting successfully.  Through these forums, there are now more major public universities that are adopting the Blend.
