Mushrooms in the News: 08-08-2022

In a major story in SFGATE that was syndicated to other outlets nationwide, dietitians weighed in on mushrooms’ myriad health – and grocery budget – benefits: “Mushrooms are an ideal food to enjoy every day and for every meal occasion. In addition to the above suggestions, she [dietitian Whitney Burgess] recommends trying making your own ‘mushroom meat blend’ by sauteing together one pound of ground meat and one pound of finely chopped mushrooms.  ‘As a culinary dietitian, I’m always adding these mushrooms to my shopping list because they’re nutritious while remaining low cost,’ she says.” 

Mushrooms continue to appear as central ingredients in an array of recipe-centric features, including  Well+Good’s Grilled Mushroom Halloumi Burger. Taste of Home also shared recipes for Mushroom and Egg Breakfast Tacos and Beef Tenderloin in Mushroom Sauce. 

6News (Richmond, VA) brought mushrooms to the airwaves with their segment that included a recipe for a Frittata Sandwich with Mushroom, Sausage, and Tomato. Best Health also shared a twist on the classic Cacio e Pepe pasta dish, and Mashed shared a recipe for a creamy mushroom risotto.
