Tracker Highlights – Period ending 04/20/2025

• The external marketplace had an outsized influence on food-related spending in the first quarter of 2025, with consumers emphasizing home-prepared meals.
• Technomic lowered its foodservice, including restaurant, sales projections for 2025, now expecting inflation-adjusted growth of -0.2% for restaurants and +0.3% for foodservice as a whole.
• Placer.ai, which tracks cellphone traffic, showed a 1.6% decline for quick service restaurant traffic while fast-casual visits remained flat in Q1 2025.
• Despite the Easter holiday, vegetable and mushroom sales were subdued in the quad-week ending 4/20/2025.
• The rate of decrease for mushroom dollar, unit and volume sales in the quad-week was higher than the decline in the 52-week period.
• Crimini had the best performance of the bigger sellers; however, it also lost ground year-over-year.
• Organic mushroom sales fell behind year-ago levels in the latest four weeks.
